Sorry, it's a lack of title sort of day....What's been going on in our neck of the woods? Well, seems we're up to our eyeballs in life.... :)
Brenden's regular annual ARD meetings is coming up so we're hearing from all the professionals about how WONDERFUL he's doing. His teacher is very complimentary on his progress in school. His behaviors have been great. He problem solves social situations well and has a good steady base of friends. This year Perry and I even felt he was ready for UIL....a first for him, extracurricular activity. Maps, Charts, and Graphs....doesn't that sound right up his alley? It is clear that some behaviors still happen at home that don't occur at school but apparently that's not too unusual. His OT did assure me that he doesn't hold me accountable for times we have had recently where MOM (mean old mom) had to be a bad guy and put the punishments on him. I'm glad to hear that, though I know it should not matter one way or another.
Jacob's conference with his teacher went well too. He gets in trouble in school but we have found the root of a good portion of it....remember how at home he often forgets I'm mom and let me be mom? Well, he apparently often forgets at school that the teacher is teacher and let her be teacher....He has gotten in trouble twice in recent weeks for helping other kids when he shouldn't have been talking. Tough call there, break him of his helpfulness to get him to follow the "no talking" rules or let him get in trouble?Yesterday the two of them made some poor decisions....see Jacob lost control on his bike and wiped out, scraping his elbow and getting upset. Rather than helping his brother up and helping him walk his bike home my genius big-red flagged down a motorist and ASKED HIM TO GIVE HIS BROTHER A RIDE HOME!!!!!!!!! Sorry, was I yelling? Do forgive, I'm just a bit tense over the fact THAT HE TRIED TO CONVINCE A TOTAL STRANGER TO GIVE HIS LITTLE BROTHER A RIDE HOME! Okay, Okay, I'll stop yelling now. Ever have one of the "teaching moments" as a parent when you just can't teach for a few days because you have to first get over the thing that caused the "teaching moment" in the first place? Tonight we'll have a nice long talk about it...how appropriate is it that yesterday we went to the police station open house and had Digikids do the kids' I.D. cards for them? Imagine my kids doing something as stupid as getting in a car with a stranger!?! Whoo-saaa! It's awl good, whoo-saaaa! It's a learning experience. Whoo-saa! At least he flagged down a smart stranger who knew this mom would strangle them if he brought her children home rather than just almost have a heartattack listening to the story. Whoo-saaa!
Emma is doing great. Today she has a lovely set of Little House braids that I just love on her. She has been going to story time at the library each week and gets more and more active with the dancing, signing, etc. each week. I'm proud to say my daughter has figured out "criss-cross-applesauce" and actually listens to at least one story , despite other distractions. I'd forgotten how hard it is for the kids to sit still at that age when others are bouncing around. Despite the preschool age of three and up there are lots of little ones in there with the siblings and sometimes it's a bit distracting to me!And me? Well, let's see....I spent a whopping seven bucks on an Etsy Showcase and have several more totes to add to it today and tomorrow. We did the ladies bible class again Tuesday and met several lovely women. We even stayed for the potluck afterwards. Emma made some new friends too. I have been trying to keep up the walking as often as I can, with a goal of every day. I even lost two pounds. And best off all? Ready? Drum roll please.....Perry bought a gallon of chocolate icecream on Saturday and I'VE NOT HAD ONE SINGLE BEDTIME SERVING FROM THE BUCKET!!!!! SELF-CONTROL! Call the presses! Aren't you proud of me?

Hey - It's me. Barbara from DIGIKIDS. I bet you didn't think I'd be reading your blog. I wanted to mention the safety posters located on your DIGIKIDS CD. You might want to print them off and hang them ALL over your home! ;-) Thanks for coming out to National Night Out at the FM Police Station. That's the first time I've done a whole event just with generator power. It's awesome what a community can do with just a little team effort. I hope your day is going great and hug the kids - really tight - - tighter. There ya go!!!

Hi Barbara! You guys are awsome! We were looking at all the materials included with the ID card and CD...WOW! DNA swab and fingerprinting. I think even if I didn't have a child who doesn't understand stranger danger I would see your services as such a blessing to any mom or dad! Thank you again for all you do for the children of the community!
You're so right! But we all know the quickest way to get your child returned to you safely is by having a current digital photo - and remember - Don't SMILE! The finger print/DNA kits are used for identification. Tell all your friends and neighbors to check us out and ask for us by name - DIGIKIDS. ;-) I hope to see you around town again - SOON! I've been eyeing some of your bags too. So beautiful!!! How do you have the time?
Sweet pictures of Em. Her hair is getting so long!
Congrats on the ice cream defeat! (Wish I could say I haven' had any this week...but that wouldn't be 100% true)
Barbara: Notice the bags are all very simple? Much less time to make a simple bag...I also have some at Fresh European, a new restaurant on 3040 in Lewisville, if you ever want to go look and try some new food. :)BTW, can I put a DIGIKIDS link on my site? I would put it down with the autism links. Let me know if that's an okay think and the specific link you would be okay with...I think you guys do a great service and would love to spread the word.
Angela: Didya notice I said "bedtime" icecream? I did have one serving after lunch the other day but figured at least I had a few hours to burn a little bit of it off....I know, still bad for me. Sheri
Congrats on that nighttime self control! I don't have your contact info, but I know you've got mine so could you call me sometime please? I am going to attend an event up your way (I think) and thought I might try to say hello while I'm up there. Give me a buzz........
